The wages of sin is death. Sin separates you from yourself, from others and from God. Death separates your soul from your body (Matthew 10:28). There is no way we can earn God’s free grace — any more than we could deserve the taste of strawberries, or earn good looks, or bring about our own birth. All of life is a gift — including eternal life!

Grace is a gift. That means you don’t have to work your tail off  to be loved by God. And if you do, you may have trouble being loved by your wife or your husband or your friends.

If God knows that a certain person is going to die rejecting him, lake of fire and he also knows that this person is going to wind up in the , then why in the world would he allow that person to be created? If he knows that a person is going to end up in hell, then what is the sense of allowing him to even be born?

Since God the Father is an all-knowing God, he knows how each of us are going to end up, but the really incredible thing is that he has known this for all of eternity. He knew long before the universe was even in existence whether you and I were going to end up in heaven or in hell. But if that is the case, then why did God allow the unsaved to be brought into this world? People who he knew he would eventually have to toss into the lake of fire? And I think you will see in a few minutes the incredible and amazing answer to that question. But first a little foundation. God grants every person on earth the freedom of choice. We call it free will. We can choose to obey God or to rebel against him. This freedom is never revoked.

Revelation 3:5He in white garments who overcomes shall be clothed , and his name will not be blotted out from the Book of Life.”
Notice too that God will judge each person individually. So on Judgment Day, you will not be part of a group or a church or islam. You will not be one of many. You will be standing all alone, and you will be standing in front of God himself.

Luke 10:20 “Rejoice, because your names are recorded in heaven.”

Revelation 20:15 “And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”

DJOUGOU, BENIN REPUBLIC

It’s really amazing what the Lord is doing in Benin Republic as lots of Voodoo worshippers are giving their lives to Jesus on a daily basis. The same is the experience of Abraham, who recently gave his life to Jesus after so many years of faithfulness to Voodooism, a system of African sorcery; a sect of black magicians.

Benin Voodoo worshippers

This is contained in a report by Dorothy Forsberg, the Benin Republic representative of Serving In Missions (SIM), who added that practicing voodoo is the Yom tradition into which Abraham was born.

She observed that, as a child, Abraham was known as Sidi and that his family made regular sacrifices to the gods and visited witch doctors for healing when they were ill.

“Abraham didn’t know about Jesus. In fact, the first reports that he heard about Christians came from a neighboring village and were less than flattering,” she said.

According to her, the day came when a group of Bible school students came to share about Jesus in Abraham’s village and distributed pictures and taught them a simple song recounting the Gospel.

“The song stuck with him, but he wasn’t convinced,” she noted. “He had been seeing a witch doctor for some time because of his health issues, and he was afraid that this man would kill him if he turned away from voodoo. The witch doctor had become Abraham’s ‘master’.”

Dorothy further said that it wasn’t until after the dream that Abraham had that he became convinced enough to take action stating that the next morning, he gathered together all his talismans and all his other occult paraphernalia and destroyed them.

She continued: “And then one day there was a death in the village where the Christians were meeting. Abraham accompanied a relative to visit the bereaved. In this village they came across a group of Christians who were meeting in the village chief’s big entrance hut. Abraham joined them and experienced a rush of joy. From then on, every Sunday he got ready and set off, walking the two miles to “church.” When he was baptized … he changed his name.

She recounted that in the late 1970’s, SIM needed to enlist three men to be a part of the final revision team for the Yom New Testament and that they needed two men who could read French, and one who was fluent in reading Yom adding that as a new believer, Abraham had learned to read Yom and that a pastor approached him to join the work, but by that time Abraham was doing well in his farming.

Abraham and his family

“Later the pastor came back to him. He hadn’t found anyone else who could go. Abraham considered the consequences. If he didn’t go, there would be no Bible. He had to go. He relinquished all that he had worked so hard to achieve and went to a far away place outside the Yom area. There he joined SIM missionary translator, Gordon Beacham, and the two other members of the team. They started work in 1980,” she said.

Dorothy also said that by 1985, they had finished the revision, read and reread the manuscript, and worked through the word lists and the lists of names by ensuring that the work was as consistent as possible, “the team was excited for Mr. and Mrs. Beacham to deliver the disks to the United Statesfor typesetting.

“During the time they were away, Abraham visited his village. Almost everything he had left had disappeared. His house had been used, but without benefit to Abraham. But what rejoicing when the New Testament arrived in 1986! The dedication coincided with the dedication of a new, big church in Djougou, the main town of the Yom area.”

According to her when the team for the translation of the Old Testament was formed back in Djougou, Abraham became an indispensable part of it adding that his lack of formal education actually served as a check on the others, who unconsciously followed the language patterns of French, the language of Beninese educators. “His knowledge of and “feel” for the language made him the best person on the team to check the “naturalness” of the translated texts.”

Jesus Christ said:
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the Beginning and the End,”
says the Lord,
“who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
And when I saw Him,
I fell at His feet as dead.
But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me,
“Do not be afraid;
I am the First and the Last.
I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen.
And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
